This wonderfully creative, hands-on illustration workshop invites children across Key Stages 1 and 2 to embark on an imaginative journey into outer space, where quirky characters, curious creatures and wonderfully inventive ideas come to life.

Using a selection of inks, pens and paintbrushes, students explore a range of drawing, mark-making and texture-building techniques as they create their own unique space-themed illustrations. From mischievous-looking aliens and cats in space suits to extraordinary space creatures and wonderfully creative spacecraft, the possibilities are limited only by their imaginations.

Throughout the workshop, students experiment with expressive line work, tonal values and shading, learning how different marks and textures can bring their characters and environments to life. They will also explore the shapes, patterns and details that make an illustration visually engaging, incorporating elements such as satellites, meteors, distant planets and strange celestial objects into their own imaginative compositions.

Encouraging curiosity, storytelling and creative exploration, this workshop gives students the freedom to develop their own characters and invent fantastical worlds beyond the boundaries of our planet.
